It's hard to say, I assume the casinos do some kind of research on this. Also, they may run out of money faster so the games might not last as long. The caveat tho is that 1/3 may get you less players overall, as players might prefer to seek out the 1/2 instead of playing slightly higher. If you have four limpers in a 1/3 game, that's $12 and they can take a buck out of that for the rake. In a 1/2 game, if you have four limpers preflop, that's only $8 and there's no rake. They get to the rake, and to each level of the rake, quicker.
